Capturing the fleeting moments of a baby or toddler is as they grow is something every parent or grandparent treasures. Indeed, having three grown-up children of her own Nic knows, only too well, how quickly tiny feet and hands change. Working from her home studio, visiting a group of friends or a visit to regular toddler session Nic can capture hands and footprints in a quick, efficient and clean way on ceramic pieces.
Using non-toxic ceramic paints, hand and footprints can be printed on previously fired ceramic pieces, be they tiles, mugs or baubles, or specifically requested ware. Names and dates can be added, the prices then finished with a clear glaze to produce treasured keepsakes or gifts for friends and family. These take 2 to 3 weeks to be fired and returned depending on the ongoing firing schedule.
Hands and feet can also be imprinted into wet clay tiles, dates and names then imprinted into the
white earthenware clay, and then again fired and finished with a clear glaze. These wet clay pieces
must be done in the Clevedon studio to prevent too much handling or damage before the firing takes place. They can take 2 to 4 weeks owing to the clay drying time and the extra bisque firing
needed to produce these pieces.
